Good SAT Score - What should I aim for?

I've got a quick question - what's considered a good SAT score? I mean, what should I be aiming for to gain admission into reputable colleges? I'm prepping for my SAT and could use some guidance.

The definition of a good SAT score really depends on the colleges you're aiming for.

For highly selective and Ivy League colleges, most accepted students typically score in the mid-to-high 1500s or above on the new 1600 SAT scale. These scores represent the top 1-2% of test takers.

For moderately selective colleges, a good score would generally be in the range of 1300-1500. If your target schools fall into this category, aiming for a score in this range would make your application competitive.

The most accurate way to evaluate what a good SAT score is for you would be to look up the middle 50% SAT scores for admitted students at the colleges you're interested in. This tends to provide a realistic understanding of what score range you need to be in to be a competitive applicant at those schools.

Remember, while your SAT score is important, it is just one part of your application. Colleges will also consider your GPA, your course rigor, your essays, and your extracurricular involvement, among other things. Good luck with your prep!
