Max SAT Score Details?

Hey everyone, I'm just starting my SAT preparation and I'm a little confused about the scoring. Could anybody explain what the maximum score on the SAT test is? Would be great to know my target. Thanks a lot!

Absolutely! The SAT is scored on a scale of 400-1600 in total. There are two sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (ERW) and Math. Both are scored on a scale of 200-800, and their scores are combined to get your overall score. So a perfect score on the SAT would be 1600.

Now, it's good to have a target score in mind based on where you'd like to apply. What you consider as a 'good' score depends greatly on the colleges you're interested in. For instance, if you're aiming for more selective schools, you might aim for an SAT score above 1400 or even 1500.

Keep in mind that scoring well on the SAT is just one part of your college application and not the sole deciding factor. You should also focus on maintaining high academic grades, developing strong extracurricular activities, and writing compelling application essays. Good luck with your preparation!
