Anyone applied to College of the Ozarks?

Hi peeps! I am thinking of applying to College of the Ozarks. What has been your experience with their admission process? I'd love to hear more about their academics and campus life too.

Hi there! While I didn't personally apply to College of the Ozarks, I do know some about its admissions process and what it's like as a campus.

Starting with the admissions process, it's a bit unique! College of the Ozarks is known as "Hard Work U" for a reason. The admissions process not only looks at your academics but also considers your financial need and willingness to work.

This emphasis is because every admitted student takes part in a work-study program where they work 15 hours a week on campus (as well as two 40-hour weeks per academic year), essentially working in exchange for free tuition. So, in your application, you might want to highlight your work ethic and any jobs or responsibilities you've had in the past.

In terms of academics, they offer a variety of majors, from accounting to theatre. Their teacher-student ratio stands at about 14:1, so you'll likely receive a decent amount of individualized attention from your professors.

As for campus life, College of the Ozarks is a fairly small community, of around 1,500 students. The college is located in Point Lookout, Missouri, near the Ozark mountains, so students have access to plenty of outdoor activities like hiking.

Since it's a Christian college, you'll also find chapel services and religious activities on campus. Do keep in mind that, because of the religious affiliation, the college has a stricter code of conduct compared to some others, with regulations on things like dress and curfew.

I hope this overview helps you with your decision-making process! While the unique experience isn't right for everyone, if College of the Ozarks is a good match for your goals the institution can offer a blend of academics, work experience, and community life that's difficult to find elsewhere.
