Duke ACT Scores: What's the Norm?

Hey everyone, I've been eyeing Duke University for a while now and I wanted to get an idea of my chances. My ACT scores are pretty solid, but I want to know the average or median range that is typically accepted at Duke. Can anyone help provide some insight into this?

Sure, I can help with that. Duke University is one of the top universities in the U.S., hence it's quite competitive. As such, admitted students typically have very strong ACT scores. While Duke doesn't publish an official ACT average, based on available data, the middle 50% range of ACT scores for accepted students tends to fall between 33 and 35.

Remember, these scores only represent a range. It highlights that a quarter of the admitted students scored below a 33, and another quarter scored above a 35 on the ACT. Therefore, if you fall within or above this range, you have a stronger chance. If you're below it, it doesn't necessarily mean you won't be admitted. Other factors like extracurricular activities, your high school grades, and your essays will play a role too.

Also note that Duke University is test optional for the 2024-2025 application cycle, so prospective students won't need to submit either an SAT or ACT score unless they choose to. Hope this helps and best of luck with your application!
