Admission Requirements for Florida A&M

I'm really considering Florida A&M as my future school. Can anyone fill me in on the basic admission requirements? GPA? SAT/ACT scores? Anything else they're particularly picky about?

Florida A&M University (FAMU) does have specific criteria for undergraduate admissions. The main things admissions officers at FAMU look for are your academic achievements, including your GPA and SAT/ACT scores, as well as your extracurricular involvement.

FAMU reportedly looks for a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for incoming freshmen. In terms of standardized tests, while the university does not explicitly list minimum SAT or ACT scores for eligibility, the common range for admitted students tends to be as follows:

- SAT: 1040-1150 (middle 50%, meaning 25% of students score below this range and 25% score above)

- ACT: 19-24 (middle 50%)

It's valuable to note that these are middle 50% ranges, and a score below or above does not automatically signify rejection or acceptance. FAMU reviews applications holistically, which means they consider more than just numbers.

Extracurricular involvement is also a key part of your application. Much like other universities, FAMU wants students who are involved in their communities and passionate about their interests. This could be through clubs, sports, volunteering, and other initiatives. Leadership roles can particularly highlight your potential.

Additionally, FAMU requires an essay and they really want to see who you are as an individual. Use it as a chance to share your personal experiences and how they shaped you, dreams, aspirations, challenges, etc.

Keep in mind that these are the typical requirements and guidelines. Admission processes can be complex and holistic, so meeting these criteria doesn't guarantee admission, but they offer a benchmark for understanding the general competitive landscape of admission to this university.
