Sending SAT scores: When, where, how?

Hi guys! Can someone walk me through the process of sending SAT scores to colleges? When should I do it? Is there a fee? I'm feeling a little bit lost here. Thanks in advance.

Of course! No need to worry, the process is straightforward.

Once you've taken the SAT and received your scores, you can send them to the colleges of your choice through your College Board account. The test was fully digitized as of Spring 2024, so all scores are digital and sent this way. To send the scores, follow these steps:

1. Log into your College Board account.

2. Under 'Scores' click on 'Send/View Scores'

3. On the next page, Click on 'Send scores now' button.

4. Then, you will see an option to select schools. You can search by school code or name. It will populate a list based on your search, and you can select the correct institution.

5. Once you are done selecting all the schools to send scores, click 'Confirm' and make the payment.

When to send scores largely depends on the college's application deadline. Generally, it's best to send in your scores at least a few weeks before your application deadline to ensure they'll be there in time for review. However, it's always a good idea to check each individual school's policy, as some may have earlier deadlines for scores.

As for fee, yes, there is a cost associated with sending scores. At the time of writing, the College Board charges $14 to send scores to each college. However, you are given four free score sends per test registration which can be used up to nine days after your test date. To avoid paying additional fees, it might be beneficial to utilize these free sends as much as possible.

Keep in mind, though, that some colleges allow for self-reporting of scores on the application itself, so you might not have to send official reports until after you're accepted. This can save you some money!

Keep these details in mind, and you should be able to navigate the process easily. Good luck with your applications!
