Does anybody know the GPA requirement for UC San Diego?

Hi folks! I've been seriously thinking about applying to UCSD, but I'm a little unsure about how my GPA stacks up. Does anyone know what they typically look for in terms of GPA? Thanks in advance for your help!

UC San Diego, like other UC schools, uses a holistic admissions process, meaning they consider all aspects of your application, not just GPA. However, GPA is still an important factor. As of the most recent data, the average GPA for admitted students hovers around 4.03 - 4.26 on a weighted 4.0 scale.

Please remember that this is an average, so there are admitted students with GPAs both above and below this range. If your GPA falls below this average, compensating strengths in other areas of your application could potentially balance it out such as strong extracurriculars, essays, or letters of recommendation.

Furthermore, keep in mind that UC San Diego and all other UC schools calculate GPA using only grades from your sophomore and junior year in A-G courses. They also cap the number of AP/IB/Honors points they add into the calculation at 8 semesters.

I hope this response helps and gives you a better idea of where you stand with respect to UCSD's GPA expectations.
