Peeking into the GPA Scene at UC Davis

UC Davis has been a college I'm considering, but the GPA aspect is throwing me off a bit. Anyone knows what the average GPA of their admitted students looks like? Would really appreciate any insight, need to plan my senior year accordingly!

Admissions data shows that the average GPA of UC Davis’ admitted students tends to hover between a 4.03 to 4.27 on a weighted scale. This is understandably a pretty high range but remember, it's an average, meaning there are students who get in below and above this average.

Strategically speaking, if UC Davis is a school you're serious about, it would be best to aim for a GPA that falls within this range or higher, as it can put you in a competitive position. How you use your senior year to achieve this could include taking rigorous courses like APs or pursuing a strong upward trend in your grades.

That said, while meeting the GPA average is important, UC Davis, like many schools, practices a holistic review process. This means that other factors like your essays, extracurricular involvement, and recommendation letters are also given significant weight. Thus, while maintaining a strong GPA, also ensure that you're dedicating time to develop strong materials and experiences in these other areas.

Just remember that college admissions is more of an art, not a science. UC Davis will look at your application in the context of your circumstances, so if your GPA is a bit lower, but you've shown incredible commitment in other areas, your application will still be seriously considered. Good luck planning your senior year!
