What is MIT's Median SAT Score?

Hello people, I'm starting to prep for my SAT and setting some target scores. Does anyone know what the median SAT score is for MIT? Any tips on how to reach that score would be really useful too, thanks!

MIT, as one of the top engineering and science universities in the world, has considerably high median SAT scores. For the Class of 2026, the 50th percentile (median) of admitted students score ranged between 1520-1570 out of 1600. Please keep in mind that these are the middle 50%, which means 25% of students scored below this range and 25% scored above.

Now for achieving such scores, here are four general tips:

1. Understand the Test Structure: The SAT underwent changes in 2024 and now is fully digital. It consists of a Reading and Writing section, and a Math section, each with two modules.

2. Thorough Preparation: Use quality study materials and practice tests. The College Board's Bluebook™ app allows you to preview the digital SAT, and take a full-length practice test. If possible, consider seeking the help of a tutor or mentor.

3. Evaluate your Weaknesses: After each practice test, evaluate what you got wrong and why. Focus on your weak areas and topics that recur in the SAT. Properly understanding your mistakes is crucial for improvement.

4. Regular Practice: It's not about cramming a week before the test. Regular practice, including reading, vocabulary building, and working on mathematical problems, over a period of months will show better results.

Also, bear in mind that while your SAT score is important, the admissions committee at MIT will review your application holistically, taking into consideration factors such as GPA, coursework, extracurricular involvement, essays, and recommendation letters. Strive to excel in these areas too!
