Looking for affordable out-of-state colleges

I live in California but I'm considering going out of state for college. Money is a big factor though. What are some good, yet reasonably priced out of state colleges I should check out?

Absolutely, financial feasibility is an important factor to consider when applying to out-of-state colleges. There are quite a few universities that have relatively low out-of-state tuition or generous financial aid packages for non-residents.

1. University of Florida (UF): Located in Gainesville, UF is known for its strong programs in business and engineering. For non-residents, the total cost of attendance falls around $45,000 a year. However, UF does offer some scholarships for out-of-state students like the Lombardi Scholars Program & Stamps Scholars.

2. University of Arizona (UA): With a cost of attendance of around $49,000 for non-residents, UA has highly-rated programs in fields such as engineering, nursing, and business. The Baird Scholarship is an option for out-of-state students, granting $15,000 a year.

3. University of Minnesota Twin Cities (UMN): UMN has competitive programs in biological sciences and chemical engineering. Non-resident tuition comes to around $37,800 per year. The UMN Promise Program guarantees free tuition for families making under $56,000 a year.

Remember, these are just base tuition prices and actual out-of-pocket costs can vary greatly depending on financial aid (both need-based and merit-based) that a school offers. Using each school's Net Price Calculator can give you a more personalized estimate. Please remember to apply to a balanced list of reach, match, and safety schools both in terms of acceptance rates and affordability. Verify that the colleges are academically and financially feasible for you and your family.
