SAT requirement for Penn State?

Hi, so I'm seriously considering Penn State for my undergrad and as we all know, the SAT is kinda a big deal (even though I wish it wasn't, ugh). Does anyone know if they require the SAT? And what's the average score range? I'm trying to plan my test prep schedule.

Penn State University is currently test-optional for the 2024-2025 application cycle. This means that SAT or ACT scores are not required for admission. If you feel your standardized test scores accurately reflect your abilities, you may choose to submit them. However, if you feel your scores do not reflect your capabilities or if you were unable to take a standardized test, you can choose not to submit them without any detriment to your application.

For reference, classic Penn State's accepted SAT score range was approximately between 1230 - 1390. That covers the 25th percentile, which means 75% of admitted students scored above that number, and the 75th percentile, which means 25% of admitted students scored above that number. However, keep in mind that this is historical data and might not be fully representative especially due to the recent shift to a test-optional policy.

So, if you choose to take the SAT, aim to achieve within or exceed this score range to make your application competitive. However, remember that the university will also take into account other factors like GPA, academic rigor, extracurriculars, and essay responses, among others.
