Hey guys, I'm a high school junior planning to apply to some UC schools next year. I was wondering if they look at first semester senior year grades during the admissions process, or if they only look at the grades from freshman through junior years? Any help would be appreciated!
I'm glad to see you're thinking ahead about your application process to the University of California system. Indeed, UC schools do take a look at your first semester senior year grades. They request that you report your grades after the semester ends through the UC Application update site in January. While you apply in the fall of your senior year and your admission will be initially based on the grades you've earned up until that point, the UCs require this updated grade information to confirm that you've maintained your academic performance. Think of your first semester grades as a continuation of your academic narrative; strong performance there can reinforce the strengths of your application. Keep in mind that a significant drop in grades could potentially impact an offer of admission, so it's important to keep pushing through with your coursework. Best of luck with your senior year and the application process.
