Where can I find free sample SAT tests?

What's up everyone, I'm getting ready to take the SAT soon but struggling to find good practice materials. I've heard that taking full-length SAT practice tests helps a lot. Does anyone know where I can find free authentic SAT sample tests? I'd prefer the most recent ones if possible. Thanks a bunch!

Hello! You're absolutely right - practicing with full-length SAT tests is a beneficial way to prepare. As for free sample SAT tests, the CollegeBoard, which is the organization responsible for the SAT, offers several free full-length practice tests on their website. These practice tests simulate the actual test experience pretty accurately, as they are previous versions of the official SAT.

Note that the structure of the SAT changed when it moved to be fully digital in spring 2024. The tests on the CollegeBoard website might still be in the old paper format, so the length and structure of the test sections might be different from what you'll experience on test day.

At the moment, the digital version of the SAT consists of two 32-minute modules for Reading and Writing to complete 54 questions and two 35-minute modules for Math to complete 44 questions. The total duration is 134 minutes to complete 98 questions.

Additionally, the Bluebook™ app provides a look at the digital PSAT/NMSQT and gives you a full-length practice test. Although it's technically a PSAT/NMSQT practice test, the PSAT/NMSQT and SAT are now the same length, and the question types and skills tested are extremely similar, so you can use the PSAT/NMSQT practice test to prepare for the SAT.

Remember to simulate a test-like environment when you practice, including timing yourself, limiting distractions, and taking just one short break between the Reading/Writing and Math sections. After you complete a practice test, be sure to go over your answers and understand your mistakes to spot trends and identify what areas you need to work on. This review process is just as important, if not more, as taking the tests. Happy studying!
