Help needed understanding North Texas admissions

Yo, I'm just trying to understand what North Texas' admissions process is like. If you or someone you know applied to this school, could you give me a little insight into their preference? GPA, SAT, extracurriculars; what's the big ticket item for them?

The University of North Texas (UNT) uses a comprehensive review process in which the main big ticket items are GPA and rigor of high school curriculum. The emphasis on GPA means it is crucial to aim for strong academic performance.

Academic rigor is another important component; they're interested in the types of classes you've taken in high school. Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) classes can demonstrate academic rigor.

Furthermore, UNT, like many universities, appreciates a well-rounded student. Extracurricular involvement - such as leadership roles, involvement in clubs, community service, etc. - can reflect your commitment and demonstrate transferable skills like leadership, teamwork, and time management.

UNT lists automatic admission standards on their website. For the Class of 2024, students ranking in the top 10% of their class with no minimum SAT/ACT score, and students ranking quartile 1 or 2 with a minimum SAT score of 1030 (evidence-based reading and writing plus math) or ACT composite score of 20 achieved automatic admission.

Remember though these are automatic admission standards, students who don't meet the automatic admission standards are still encouraged to apply as UNT conducts a holistic review of your application.

However, as of Fall 2023, UNT has adopted a test-optional admissions policy, and you can choose whether to submit your SAT or ACT scores as part of your admissions application.

Lastly, UNT does not have a requirement for an application essay or letters of recommendation, but you have the option to submit these. Including an essay or letters of recommendation could give you the platform to shed light on aspects that your academic records and test scores can't reveal.
