Hey guys, I've been doing some research on UCLA (dream school lol) and I'm a bit confused about their SAT score requirements. I know that the pandemic has made some schools go test-optional or even test-blind, but I wanna be ready just in case. Does anyone know how UCLA is handling this right now? What are they looking for in terms of SAT scores?
You're absolutely on point about the recent shifts in standardized testing requirements due to the pandemic. Specifically for the University of California schools, including UCLA, they adopted a test-blind policy. This change started back in the 2023-2024 application cycle.
Consequently, what this means is that UCLA is not considering SAT or ACT scores at all during the admissions process for the 2024-2025 application cycle. Therefore, you don't have to worry about SAT scores for your UCLA application. Even if you include your scores, they will not have any bearing on your admission decision.
That being said, the focus of your application should be on other components like strong grades, involvement and leadership in extracurricular activities, and thoughtful application essays that really showcase who you are. Since they won't have test scores to look at, these aspects of your application are going to be really key!
The University of California's applications are open from October 1 to November 30. Make sure to spend plenty of time crafting your application to highlight your unique strengths and interests. Good luck!
