What kind of SAT scores does Vanderbilt University look for?

I'm prepping for the SATs and Vanderbilt University is my top choice. I know it's a tough school to get into, so I'm just wondering about the average SAT scores of admitted students. What should I be aiming for to be a competitive applicant?

Vanderbilt University is indeed a highly selective institution. While the university has a holistic review process, having a strong standardized test score can surely bolster your application.

Now, Vanderbilt doesn't publish its 25th-75th percentile SAT scores, but to give you a rough idea, many students admitted to highly selective institutions like Vanderbilt generally have SAT scores in the high 1400s or above. This is not a hard and fast rule, but it can serve as a good benchmark for what to aim for.

Keep in mind that a high SAT score alone will not guarantee admission. Vanderbilt also values strong academic performance in rigorous courses, high caliber extracurricular activities showing your passion and leadership, compelling recommendation letters, and well-written essays. Furthermore, due to its need-blind admissions policy, students with an extraordinary profile could be admitted even if their test scores are not on par.

Finally, continue to prepare vigorously for the SAT but don't lose sight of the importance of the other elements in your application. Remember, colleges look at the applicant as a whole person, not just a set of numbers!
