Looking for Good Colleges for Game Design

Hey guys, I'm really into game design and I'm hoping to make it my career. I'm starting to look into colleges that offer game design as a major, anybody have any insider info or suggestions on where to apply?

There's quite a few colleges that have made a name for themselves with strong game design programs. Let's get into a few of them.

Let's start with the University of Southern California (USC) which has a fantastic program. The Interactive Media & Games Division in USC's School of Cinematic Arts blends technical and critical/contextual thinking about games. Plus, being in Los Angeles, there's easy access to internships and job opportunities in the industry.

Another top-ranked choice is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). They have a Comparative Media Studies/Writing department that offers a specialization in Game Design. This could be a great choice if you're interested in understanding games within a broader context of media studies.

The University of Utah also has a strong game design program, with both undergraduate and graduate tracks. The Entertainment Arts and Engineering Program there is usually ranked among the best in the nation as well.

Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is another school to consider. It has a dedicated program, with Bachelors and Masters degrees in Game Design and Development.
