Get a toe hold in NDSU admission requirements

Yo folks, I'm prepping my college applications for the next semester and NDSU is on my list. I've been trying to gather as much info on their admissions as I can. Do they emphasize more on GPA or is it the whole 'holistic' approach? Any insight would be much appreciated.

North Dakota State University (NDSU) is a moderately selective university, and while your academic performance is of utmost importance, NDSU does consider other facets of your application.

Your GPA indeed plays a significant role. The average GPA of admitted students at NDSU tends to be around 2.75. However, the admissions committee looks at your course selection too: they want to see that you've taken rigorous courses in high school, as it demonstrates your preparedness for college-level work.

Regarding standardized test scores, unlike some universities that have switched to test-optional policies, NDSU still considers SAT or ACT scores. Remember, these scores are not the deciding factor, but they are a component of the decision-making process. The middle 50% range for SAT scores at NDSU is between 1090-1300, and for ACT, it's 21-26.

In addition to your academic records, NDSU takes interest in knowing who you are beyond numbers. Therefore, your extracurricular activities, community service, work experience, and leadership qualities can bolster your application. It is advantageous to have meaningful, consistent engagement in a few activities (the quality of these activities is more important than the quantity).

Remember to submit a captivating personal statement. This is your chance to tell your story, clarify your interests, and explain any inconsistencies in your academic records. Also, ensure that your letters of recommendation are strong and tell compelling stories about your skills, attributes, and experiences.

One final piece of advice: reviewing NDSU's mission and values can help tailor your application to what the institution highly regards. Good luck with your application!
