Math Curriculum in High School?

Hey guys, I've been thinking about my schedule for senior year and I was wondering what typically comes after precalculus? What's the standard order of math classes in high school? Appreciate any advice.

The standard order of high school math classes typically follows this sequence: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Precalculus, and then Calculus. Some schools may offer statistics or other math-based electives as part of the curriculum as well.

So, if you've just finished Precalculus, the general next step would be Calculus. There are often two types of calculus courses available in high schools - Calculus AB and Calculus BC. AB traditionally covers the first half - or a bit more - of college-level calculus, while BC covers a full year of college-level calculus.

Keep in mind, it all depends on your school's course offerings and your own academic and college goals. For instance, if you are planning to study in a STEM-related field in college, taking Calculus would be a strong choice. However, if you're more interested in humanities or social science, you might consider a statistics course if it's available, as this might be more relevant to your field.

Remember to discuss your course plans with your guidance counselor to ensure you're taking the best classes for your future plans. Your counselor can provide personalized advice based on your academic performance, strengths, and college aspirations.
