What SAT scores does Boston University generally look for?

Hey there! So, I'm considering Boston University and I was curious to know what SAT scores they typically look for in applications? The ballpark is enough, I know there isn't an exact 'required' score. Thanks!

Boston University (BU) is a highly competitive school and, while they are test-optional for the 2024-2025 application cycle, strong SAT scores can certainly enhance an application. For students who choose to submit their scores, here are the middle 50% ranges to give you an idea of what most admitted students are scoring:

- SAT Math: 690 - 780

- SAT EBRW (Evidence-Based Reading and Writing): 660 - 710

If you are within these ranges, that's a solid place to be. If you're aiming for the top quarter of applicants, you will want to aim for a total SAT score above 1490. As always, remember that while a competitive SAT score can help your application, BU also considers other areas of your profile, including your GPA, course rigor, essays, and extracurriculars. A lower score can be offset by strengths in these areas. Ultimately, if you feel your SAT score accurately reflects your abilities, send it in. If not, BU's test-optional policy allows you not to send scores.
