UMich SAT Scores?

I'm seriously considering applying to University of Michigan. Heard a lot about it, did some research as well but not sure about the SAT score. What's the average SAT score of accepted students? And should I aim for way higher than the average to have a decent shot?

The average SAT score of accepted students at University of Michigan typically ranges between 1350-1530. However, remember these are just averages, and the range might fluctuate slightly from year to year. It's vital to acknowledge that your score should ideally fall within or above this range to be competitive, but it doesn't guarantee admission.

However, due to the competitive nature of University of Michigan's admission process, aiming a bit higher than the average scores is a good strategy. You might want to target around the 75th percentile or higher, which is usually around 1530 or above. This shows that your academic capabilities are in the top 25% of admitted students, making your application more attractive.

Remember, though, that colleges view applicants holistically, which means that a high SAT score is just one piece of the puzzle. Other parts of your application like your GPA, course rigor, letters of recommendation, essays, and extracurricular activities will also play a significant role in the admission decision. Though, it's worth noting that as of the 2024-2025 application cycle, UMich is test-optional, meaning submission of SAT or ACT scores is not required but it is certainly considered if submitted.
