Defining a Good ACT Score

So I took the ACT and now I'm freaking out a little about my score. I mean, what's considered a 'good' ACT score? Feeling a bit stressed, not gonna lie.

A "good" ACT score can often depend on your individual goals and ambitions. Each college and university has its own average ACT scores for admitted students, and identifying the score ranges for the schools you're interested in can be a good place to start. A perfect ACT score is 36, and the national average in recent years has hovered around 20-21.

However, for more selective schools, a competitive ACT score tends to be significantly higher. Top-tier schools often have average ACT scores in the range of 33-36.

That being said, it's important to remember that while ACT scores are a significant portion of your college application, they are not the only factor colleges consider during the admissions process. Your GPA, course rigor, extracurricular activities, letters of recommendation, and essays are also vital components.

Keep these things in mind as you consider your score and remember to view it as one piece of your broader application. The most successful applications are well-rounded, showcasing strength in academics alongside individual character and extracurricular accomplishment.

Here's hoping this brings some calm to your worries. Remember, a score does not define your worth or success in college admissions!
