What are the requirements for the University of Texas?

Hi guys, I am seriously considering the University of Texas as one option for my undergraduate studies. Do they have specific academic requirements? I would be grateful if someone could provide me with some information.

The University of Texas at Austin has some set requirements for every applicant. These are baseline factors in the university's holistic admissions process, and it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with them.

Firstly, UT Austin requires either the SAT or ACT. It's important to note that for the 2024-2025 application cycle, UT Austin will no longer be test-optional and standardized test scores will be required. There is no minimum score, but being competitive means you'll want your score to be within the middle 50% for admitted students. For the class of 2023, the middle 50% score ranges were 1230-1500 for the SAT and 27-33 for the ACT.

Regarding high school academics, UT Austin requires completion of the State of Texas Uniform Admission Policy, meaning you must graduate from an accredited high school having successfully completed the curriculum requirements for admission: four years of English, math, and science plus two years of a single foreign language, among others.

If you're in the top 6% of your graduating high school class in Texas, you'll also be automatically admitted, although your major isn't guaranteed. If you are not in the top 6%, you will still be considered through a holistic review process, which considers other factors such as your extracurricular involvements, essays, and special talents.

For your application, you will need to submit essays, such as the ApplyTexas Essay A and three short answer questions. And, while it's not required, you can also submit a resume to showcase your achievements.

Ensure that you satisfy these requirements and that, beyond the requirements, your application reflects your academic capabilities, interests, and commitment to creating a positive impact.
