Are there fee waivers available for the SAT exam?

Hey there! I heard somewhere that there are fee waivers available for the SAT exam, but I'm not exactly sure how to get one. I'm kinda strapped for cash and every penny counts, so any info would be super appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Definitely! The College Board does offer SAT fee waivers to eligible students. Generally, to be eligible for an SAT fee waiver, you need to be in 11th or 12th grade, be a US citizen, or testing in the US, and meet one or more of the following requirements:

- You’re enrolled in or eligible to participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP)

- Your annual family income falls within the Income Eligibility Guidelines set by the USDA Food and Nutrition Service

- You’re enrolled in a federal, state, or local program that aids economically disadvantaged students

- You're an orphan, homeless, in a foster home or you can categorically classify as being economically disadvantaged.

The fee waiver covers 100% of the registration cost for the SAT, and it offers additional benefits like free score reports to send to colleges, and application fee waivers for some colleges.

To get a fee waiver, you'll usually have to speak with your school counselor. They are the ones who often distribute these waivers. If you're a homeschooled student or for some reason unable to access a school counselor, you should contact the College Board directly.

Remember, one student can use up to two SAT waivers in total, so make your testing strategy count! Good luck with your preparations for the SAT!
