Does anyone have a detailed timing breakdown of the SAT? Like, how long is the test, including breaks? I need to understand how much time I'll have for each section.
Under the new format, the digital SAT is divided into four modules: two for Reading and Writing, and two for Math.
Each of the Reading and Writing modules lasts 32 minutes, in which you're required to answer 27 questions. This translates to about 71 seconds for each question.
Similarly, the Math modules each last 35 minutes, with 22 questions to be answered. This gives you about 96 seconds per question, or a little over a minute and a half, which is a comfortable pace compared to the previous format.
As per the official test day schedule, there are two breaks during the SAT, giving you a bit of time to relax and regroup. The first break is 10 minutes long and comes after the first two modules. The second break is five minutes long and comes before the last module. So including breaks, the total duration of the digital SAT is roughly 2 hours and 29 minutes.
Please remember to set aside additional time for exam check-in process as well. Be sure to arrive at the test center ahead of the designated start time for this purpose. Good luck with your preparations!
