Hi all, I received a 1460 on my SAT, however, many of the colleges I'm interested in prefer ACT scores. Does anyone know a reliable method to convert my score?
To convert your SAT score to an equivalent ACT score, you can use the concordance tables that are published by the College Board and ACT. As per the latest tables, an SAT score of 1460 roughly corresponds to an ACT composite score of 32.
Keep in mind, the conversion isn't perfect because the SAT and ACT are different tests, testing different things, so not all competencies may be reflected. The accuracy of such conversions is debated, and some admissions officers may perceive the scores a bit differently based on the rest of your application.
Finally, remember that you can self-report your test scores on many college applications, and most colleges will consider whichever test score (SAT or ACT) portrays you in the best possible light. So, there's no obligation to re-test with the ACT if you already have a strong SAT score.
