Perspective Needed on ACT Score

Hey guys, just got my ACT scores back and ended up with a 24. I have no idea whether this is good or bad...Can anyone give me a sense of what a score of 24 on the ACT means?

Sure, I'd be happy to give some insight. The ACT is scored out of 36, so a 24 is above average. According to most recent statistics, a 24 places you in about the 74th percentile, meaning that you scored equal to or higher than approximately 74% of test-takers.

However, how "good" an ACT score is depends on what colleges you are interested in applying to. Different colleges and universities have different expectations when it comes to standardized test scores.

For example, more selective schools might expect scores in the 30-36 range, while less selective schools may consider scores in the low 20s to be admissible. So it's important to look into the average ACT scores of accepted students at the schools you're interested in to contextualize your score.

Remember also, that while the ACT is an important component of the college application, it is not the only factor admissions officers consider - your GPA, course rigor, extracurriculars, essays, and recommendation letters also play key roles. It's the whole package that counts!
