How Soon After Testing Do ACT Scores Come Out?

I'm taking the ACT soon, and I was wondering if anyone knows what the average timeline is for receiving scores? Also, how soon after the test do colleges get them? Does adding the writing section affect the times at all? I'd really love to hear back from someone. As you can imagine, I'm very keen on envisioning the future as accurately as possible!

Typically, ACT scores start to be released about 10 business days after you take the test. This is just a general timeline, and your scores may be released a bit earlier or later.

For tests that include the writing portion, the multiple-choice scores are usually posted before the writing scores. The writing scores are usually added within two weeks of the multiple choice scores being released. You should expect to wait a little longer for your complete score report if you've taken the ACT with the writing section.

The colleges you designated to receive your scores will receive them after your scores are posted online. The timeline for this varies depending on the mode of delivery. Electronic score reports are sent to colleges every weekday, while paper score reports are mailed only once per week.

As such, it's possible your colleges could receive your scores anywhere from a couple of days to a few weeks after they're posted online. It all depends on how quickly the ACT sends out the reports and how quickly your colleges process them.

Keep in mind that these timeframes are estimates and the actual timeframes may vary. Also, note that delays can occasionally happen, especially after popular test dates, so patience is key. Try to focus on preparing for the exam - you'll see your scores soon enough!
