Understanding ACT to SAT Conversion

Hey guys! I've got a 33 on my ACT and I'm trying to understand what it equates to in SAT terms. I know they are different testing systems, but is there a reliable conversion chart or something similar out there?

Hello there! Absolutely, there are a variety of conversion charts available that can help compare SAT and ACT scores. However, you should keep in mind that these are estimates as every college may interpret these scores slightly differently.

For an ACT score of 33, the equivalent SAT score, according to most commonly accepted conversion charts, generally falls into the range of 1450 to 1490. This means, very broadly, that colleges that consider an ACT score of 33 as competitive will likely view an SAT score in the 1450-1490 range in a similar light.

However, remember that the numbers aren't everything - the context of your full application (including your coursework rigor, GPA, extracurricular activities, essays, letters of recommendation, etc.) is important in college admissions, as well as how they correspond to each institution's particular selection process.

Always check directly with the colleges you're interested in to see how they interpret scores. Some colleges might favor one test over the other. So make sure to explore that aspect as well. Best of luck with your college application process!
