Carnegie Mellon SAT Score Requirements

Hi y'all, does anyone have any information on what the SAT score requirements might be for Carnegie Mellon University? Any and all info is appreciated, thanks!

Carnegie Mellon University, being quite selective, typically admits students with strong academic profiles. While the university does not have a strict cut-off or minimum required SAT score, students in the past have typically achieved high scores to be competitive.

Starting from the 2024-2025 application cycle, the university remains test-optional, meaning they won't require SAT or ACT scores. That being said, if you decide to submit your SAT scores, a closer look at Carnegie Mellon's admitted student profile for recent years shows that the middle 50% of students score between 1500 and 1560 on the SAT.

This means that 25% of admitted students scored below 1500, and 25% of admitted students scored above 1560. So, while a high score can strengthen your application, Carnegie Mellon will certainly consider other elements of your application like your GPA, essays, extracurricular involvement, recommendation letters, and course rigor.

Remember, these are not hard and fast numbers, but rather a general guideline from previously admitted students. Make sure your application as a whole is strong, because admissions officers will look at your application in its entirety. Good luck!
