What's up with Cal Berkeley SAT Scores?

Hey everyone, I'm currently a junior and aiming for Cal Berkeley. Heard that SAT scores do matter quite a bit. Just curious, does anyone know what the typical accepted students' range is? Should I be aiming for a particular score?

You're correct that in most years, standardized test scores can be an important part of your application. However, it's worth noting that for the 2024-2025 application cycle, University of California, Berkeley, along with all other UC schools, is test-blind. That means these schools do not consider SAT or ACT scores at all during the admissions process.

This policy might make your other application components, such as your GPA, course rigor, essays, and extracurriculars, even more important. For example, try achieving high grades in challenging courses or involving yourself meaningfully in a few extracurriculars, which are both key factors in admissions decisions.

In terms of the essays, try to choose unique topics that highlight your personal growth, interests, or experiences. Avoid writing about cliche subjects, like an immigrant's story or a sports victory, unless you can give it a particularly unique or personal twist.

Hope this helps, and best of luck as you prepare to apply!
