Any idea about JMU's SAT Requirements?

Hey guys, is anyone familiar with James Madison University's SAT requirements? I can't seem to catch a clear cutoff or average. Any information would be wildly appreciated.

James Madison University (JMU) does not have an explicit SAT requirement or cutoff, meaning there's no minimum score you absolutely must achieve to be considered. However, as of the latest available data, the middle 50% range of admitted freshman SAT scores was between 1180 and 1310. This means that 25% of admitted students scored below 1180, while another 25% scored above 1310.

Remember that these numbers are just averages and ranges, meant to provide a general guideline or expectation of what successful applicants have previously scored. They don't guarantee acceptance or rejection. Admissions committees look at a variety of factors beyond just test scores, like your GPA, course rigor, extracurriculars, essays, and letters of recommendation. So, even if your SAT score lies below the middle 50% range, other strong components of your application could certainly boost your chances.

But of course, a score within or above this range will likely improve your application's competitiveness. You may want to aim for an SAT score toward the higher end of the range or even above to have the best shot at admission, especially if you're interested in one of JMU's more competitive programs.

Lastly, James Madison University has decided to remain test-optional for the 2024-2025 application cycle, meaning you're not required to submit SAT scores with your application. However, if you believe your SAT score is strong and reflects your abilities, you can certainly choose to submit it.
