Does anyone know about MIT's requirements for SAT scores?

Hey everyone! I'm going into my junior year and strongly considering MIT. I'm planning on taking the SAT soon, and I was wondering what kind of scores MIT typically looks for? Any info or personal experiences would be really helpful!

MIT is extremely selective and thus tends to attract students with very high SAT scores. According to the updated data, for the middle 50% of admitted students, the SAT range is typically between 1520 and 1570. This means that 25% of MIT's admitted students score below 1520, and another 25% score above 1570.

It is important to remember, however, that these scores are just one aspect of a complex and holistic admissions process at schools like MIT. Though high scores are common among admitted students, there is no official 'cutoff' score below which a student would automatically be disqualified. The institution values a student's academic potential, passion for their chosen field of study, and contributions to their communities very highly.

MIT encourages students to self-report their standardized test scores on their application to give a full picture of their academic abilities, with official score reports sent if a student is admitted and chooses to enroll.

Remember too that test scores are far from the only important part of your application. MIT evaluates applicants using a holistic approach - taking into consideration not just scores and grades, but extracurricular activities, essays, recommendations, and interviews. For instance, meaningful involvement in extracurriculars and the ability to articulate your interests and ambitions in your essays could offset a less-than-perfect score.

To prepare for the SAT, you can utilize various preparation materials, practice tests, and study guides available online to help improve your score. The best advice would be to start your preparation early, understand the format of the test, and to practice regularly. Best of luck with your preparations!
