Hey y'all, I'm a bit confused. I heard that the SAT doesn't have a separate writing section anymore but I wasn’t sure if that's true. Could anyone explain this to me please? Cheers.
You're entirely correct. As of 2021, the College Board, the organization that creates and administers the SAT, made the decision to discontinue the optional essay portion of the SAT.
Before this change, there used to be an optional essay segment which was scored separately from the reading and math sections of the exam. However, it's no longer a component of the test and students do not have the option to take it.
So, if you're preparing for the SAT, your focus should be on practicing and mastering the skills tested in the reading, writing and language, and math sections. And remember, even though there's no longer an SAT essay, many colleges still place a lot of emphasis on your application essays for assessing your writing skills. Good luck with your SAT preparation!
