GPA for UC Berkeley?

So, I have UC Berkeley on my wish list, but I'm not sure what GPA they're typically looking for. Fellow juniors who are aiming for Berkeley or anyone who's already been admitted, do you have any idea about their GPA benchmark? Thanks in advance!

UC Berkeley is one of the more competitive schools in the UC system, and so the applicants they admit generally have high GPAs. Based on the latest statistics available, the average unweighted GPA of incoming freshman at UC Berkeley is between 3.89 and 4.0. The average weighted GPA of admitted students is slightly higher, sitting between 4.28 and 4.62.

Please remember that these figures are the middle 50% average and not strict cutoffs. UC Berkeley does not have a minimum GPA requirement, so even if your GPA is slightly lower than these averages, it doesn't mean you'll be automatically disqualified. Similarly, if your GPA is higher than these averages, it doesn't guarantee admission.

UC Berkeley, like many universities, takes a comprehensive approach to its admissions process, which means they'll look at various factors—like your course rigor, extracurricular involvement, essays, and letters of recommendation—alongside your GPA.

Also, make sure that you perform very well in the A-G courses, as UC schools focus a lot on your performance in these specific classes.

Keep in mind that while a strong GPA is definitely an asset, it is just one piece of your application. So, focus on presenting a complete, well-rounded application as much as you can. Good luck in your application process!
