Which colleges have a strong Nuclear Engineering major?

Yo everyone, recently I've been really fascinated by the whole concept of nuclear power and energy. So I've been considering Nuclear Engineering as my major. Does anyone know about colleges which are strong in this major? Your insights would be hugely appreciated.

You're diving into an interesting and important field! Nuclear Engineering is a niche major, so not as many colleges offer it, but there are definitely some schools that stand out in terms of curriculum strength and faculty research.

1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT): MIT has the oldest and one of the highest-ranked nuclear engineering programs in the country, known for intensive research opportunities and strong faculty.

2. University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley): UC Berkeley has a well-respected nuclear engineering department, offering a rich variety of coursework, excellent research facilities, and multiple opportunities for applied learning.

3. University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (UMich): UMich offers a comprehensive Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences program. They are known for their extensive research in areas such as plasmas and fusion, radiological sciences, and nuclear safety.

4. University of Wisconsin, Madison (UW Madison): UW Madison's Nuclear Engineering and Engineering Physics program stands out due to its research facilities which include a research reactor and a Tandem Accelerator Laboratory, providing hands-on experience.

5. North Carolina State University (NCSU): NCSU has a dedicated Nuclear Engineering Department known for its broad-based program and strong faculty.

Just remember that while the strength of the major is an important factor, make sure to also consider other aspects like the overall college fit including the campus atmosphere, location, size, available resources, etc. Best of luck with your search!
