What's the grading scale like at Baruch College?

Hi all, I'm maybe attending Baruch College next year and was curious about their grading scale. Is it any different from the standard GPA scale, or is there anything unique about it I should be aware of when aiming for high grades?

Baruch College, which is a part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system, primarily uses the standard 4.0 GPA scale that most colleges use across the U.S. This means an A would contribute 4.0 points to your GPA, a B would be 3.0, a C would be 2.0, and so on.

However, like many colleges, they also have a plus/minus grading system. So, an A- would amount to 3.7 points added to your GPA, a B+ would be 3.3, a B- would be 2.7, and so forth. Similarly, on the lower end, a D+ would be 1.3, a D would get 1.0, and a D- gets 0.7.

A couple of features that may be of note are that, same as many other institutions, an F does not contribute any points to your GPA, so you'll want to do everything possible to avoid earning this grade. And, Baruch College also includes an INC grade, which stands for "incomplete." If you receive an INC, you generally have one calendar year to finish the course or the grade becomes an F.

Remember that a high GPA often involves more than just understanding the grading scale. Good study habits, consistent attendance, and engaging with your professors and classmates can all play a significant role in reaching your academic goals.
