Missed the ACT registration deadline, what next?

Hey everyone, I goofed up. I totally thought I had more time and missed out on the ACT registration deadline. Any advice on what I should do now? Is there any way to do a late registration or should I just move on to the next available test date?

No need to panic, there are a few options you can pursue. The ACT does offer late registration for students who missed the initial deadline. There's a period of roughly two weeks after the initial registration deadline where you can still register, though there is an additional late fee.

Another option available to you is standby testing, which essentially means showing up on the test date in hopes that there will be a vacant seat available. This is quite a risk, as it's entirely possible there won't be a seat. Also, you will need to pay the standby fee, which is non-refundable even if you are unsuccessful in gaining a seat.

But if both of these options are not viable for you, shifting your focus to the next available test date might be the best course of action. You can use the extra time to continue studying and aiming to improve your score. It's also a good idea to set a reminder for the registration deadline next time to avoid a repeat of this situation.

Just remember, this mishap is not the end of the world. Many students have been in your position before and still managed to navigate the college admissions process successfully.
