What's the average PSAT for juniors?

I'm a junior and I just got my PSAT scores back. Wondering what the average PSAT score is for 11th graders, it would help me to itself to compare and plan for the SAT.

The PSAT is scored out of 1520 points, with the two sections (Math, and Reading and Writing) each scored on a scale of 760. The national mean or average PSAT score for juniors typically falls between 920 and 940. This score is derived from students across the United States; meaning it incorporates a wide range of academic capabilities. A score above this average is typically considered good.

However, if you're planning to sit for the SAT and aiming for competitive schools, you might want to aim for a significantly higher score, comparable to the average SAT scores at the universities you're interested in. It's helpful to aim for the higher benchmarks in PSAT scores, like 1060 and above, to be prepared for the SAT. To convert your PSAT score to an estimated SAT score, it's not a 1-to-1 conversion, but it is close. For instance, an 1150 on the PSAT is around an 1180 on the SAT.

Keep in mind that the PSAT is also a qualifying test for the National Merit Scholarship, and to be in the running, you generally need to score in the top 1%, which varies from state to state, but it's typically somewhere in the range of 1400-1480. Keep up your test-prep work, and remember, the PSAT is chance to get a sense of how the SAT will be and identify areas for improvement.
