Looking for College Programs for High School Students

Does anyone have recommendations for college programs for high school students? Doesn't matter if it's over the summer or during the school year. I'm just curious about getting some firsthand college experience before actually enrolling.

Absolutely, there are plenty of college programs specifically designed to give high school students a taste of the collegiate environment. Some programs may focus more on academic enrichment, while others might emphasize leadership or other skills.

The Yale Young Global Scholars program is one notable opportunity. It's open to high school juniors (rising seniors) and provides a two-week immersion into life at Yale University, with options to study a variety of subjects.

Similarly, Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies offers academic enrichment programs over the summer that touch on a range of areas, from arts and humanities to natural sciences and engineering. This program is available to students in grades 7-12.

For the tech-minded, MIT runs the MIT ESP (Educational Studies Program), which hosts programs year-round. The sPLASH program in the fall and HSSP (High School Studies Program) in the spring and summer cover a plethora of subjects, often taught by MIT students.

Hopefully, this list gives you a good starting point, but there are plenty of other options out there. CollegeVine's blog has a series of posts you may find helpful, which list programs, many affiliated with a particular college, sorted by area of interest and geographic location: https://blog.collegevine.com/category/extracurricular-activities/summer-activities/

Remember, the best program for you will align with your interests, fit in your schedule, and, hopefully, give you a preview of what you might want to study or do in college. Happy hunting!
