How does a score on the ACT test convert to IQ?

Hey all, just got a curiosity question here. I was wondering if there was actually a way to convert an ACT score to an IQ score? If anybody has some legit info on this, I'd appreciate it.

There's actually a common misconception that IQ and standardized test scores are directly convertible, but it's important to clarify that this isn't the case.

Standardized tests like the ACT and SAT are designed to measure a student's readiness for college-level work by evaluating their knowledge and skills in particular academic areas. These tests focus on your ability to solve problems quickly and accurately, understand and interpret texts, and apply mathematical concepts, among other skills.

On the other hand, an IQ (Intelligence Quotient) test is designed to measure a person's intellectual potential rather than what they already know. It focuses on different aspects such as logical reasoning, pattern recognition, and problem-solving abilities which aren't necessarily the same skills measured by the ACT.

So, while your performance on the ACT (or any other standardized test) might correlate to some degree with your IQ, it doesn't provide a direct measurement of IQ. They are fundamentally different measures and have different purposes. If you're interested in determining your IQ, it would be more appropriate to take a formal IQ test administered by a qualified professional. And it's important to note that both IQ scores and standardized test scores are just one aspect of your potential and abilities. They certainly don't paint the full picture of you as a person or a learner.
