What GPA is needed for admission to Cal Poly?

Hi guys! I'm seriously considering Cal Poly for it's amazing engineering program. I'm trying to figure out what GPA I should aim for to have a decent chance at getting admitted. Can anyone help me out?

Cal Poly is a selective public university with an acceptance rate that varies among different programs, but it is known for its academically rigorous environment. The average GPA of admitted students is typically around 4.03 (on a weighted 4.0 scale) for first-year applications, so you should aim for a GPA near or above this range.

However, keep in mind that GPA isn’t the only factor considered in admissions. They also look at the rigor of your coursework, your test scores, your extracurricular involvement, and other aspects. Their application review process is holistic, so having a strong GPA is important, but it's also essential to balance this with robust participation and leadership in extracurricular activities, impressive achievements, and strong test scores.

For instance, if you’re applying to an engineering program, doing well in your math and science classes and showing interest or leadership in related extracurricular activities can make a difference.

In conclusion, aim for maintaining a high GPA, but don't forget to focus on other aspects of your application as well. Keep working hard in your classes, particularly in areas related to your intended major, and don’t forget to spend time on your extracurriculars.
