Required GPA for Duke University?

Hey everyone, so I've been looking into Duke and really dig their programs. Does anyone know what the typical GPA requirement or range is for admission? I'm trying my best to stay on top of my grades, but I want to get a sense of just how high the bar is set.

Duke University is highly competitive and they do not set an explicit minimum GPA for their applicants. However, it's important to note that Duke's students are typically academically stellar, so aiming for high grades will be important.

To provide an indication; the middle 50% GPA for admitted students is typically around 3.8 to 4.0 (on an unweighted 4.0 scale), that is - most students who get into Duke have a GPA within this range.

Now, do keep in mind that this is just an average—it doesn't mean your GPA needs to be exactly within this range to get accepted. The admissions committee doesn't solely weigh academic metrics. Instead, they take a holistic approach where your essays, extracurricular activities, and recommendations also play a significant role in your application. That said, it's still helpful to strive for a high GPA as that demonstrates your commitment and academic prowess.

Finally, it wouldn't be in your best interest to assume a GPA above 3.8 guarantees admission. Duke's admission process is competitive and involves the assessment of various factors. Keep working hard, and ensure you maintain a solid performance across all aspects of your application.
