Sacramento State University Acceptance Rate

Hello everyone, our school doesn't provide a lot of info about California state schools and I'm particularly interested in Sacramento State University. Hoping to get insight into the acceptance rate and general admissions requirements. Thanks!!

You're in luck! Sacramento State University, or Sac State, is one of the more accessible universities in California, meaning that it has a higher acceptance rate than many of the other public universities in the state.

In recent years, Sac State's acceptance rate has been around the 82% mark. That means that more than 8 out of 10 students who apply get accepted, which is pretty encouraging!

The admissions requirements at Sacramento State are straightforward. As part of the California State University (CSU) system, Sacramento State requires applicants to have a high school diploma, completed college preparatory coursework ("a-g" courses), and meet the eligibility index. The eligibility index is a combination of your GPA and your SAT or ACT scores. However, starting from the 2024-2025 application cycle, Sacramento State has become test-blind, meaning they do not consider SAT or ACT scores at all in the admissions decision making, so that’s one less thing for you to worry about!

Therefore, the focus would be mainly on your high school grades and coursework. Sac State recommends a C or better in "a-g" courses, which include History, English, Mathematics, Science, Language Other Than English, Visual and Performing Arts, and College Preparatory Elective.

Keep in mind that despite the higher acceptance rate, you'll still need to demonstrate your motivation and preparedness for college-level study. Make sure you craft a solid application that presents you in the best possible light!

Finally, please remember that admission rates can vary from year to year based on a multitude of factors, so while past percentages can be a good guideline, they don't guarantee future admission outcomes. It's always best to check the latest statistics and requirements from the university's official website.

Let me know if there's anything else you need help with. Good luck with your application!
