Hello everybody, I recently got my SAT score back and I've been eyeing Georgia Tech. I got a 1460. Is this a good score for getting into GT? Also considering my GPA is around 3.8. Any advice?
Certainly, the SAT score of 1460 you've achieved is within the range for Georgia Tech! The middle 50% of Georgia Tech students have SAT scores from 1330 to 1510 which puts you within the competitive range.
Your 3.8 GPA is also within the competitive range for Georgia Tech. It's slightly below the university's average GPA of 4.1, though this could be due to differences in how GPAs are calculated.
However, remember that admissions isn't solely about grades and scores. GT, like many other colleges, also looks for strong participation and leadership in extracurricular activities, stellar letters of recommendation, a challenging high school course load, and compelling essays. You might want to focus on these areas as well to strengthen your application further.
Arguably the most essential part is to ensure your essays are personal and display your passion, goals, and how you would fit in the Georgia Tech community. An application should tell your personal story and how your experiences have shaped you as an individual.
So, while your GPA and SAT score are definitely strong, consider other facets of your application as well to maximize your chances. You're on the right track and best of luck with your application!
