Hey guys. I want to apply to a few Big Ten colleges due to their great athletic programs. But, I'm slightly confused about how many schools are in the Big Ten Conference. Can anyone help me out?
Hello! Despite its name, the Big Ten Conference actually consists of 14 universities -- not 10. The name is a bit misleading because it was coined when the conference did include ten schools. It's just that the name never changed even as additional schools were added.
These members include the University of Illinois, Indiana University, University of Iowa, University of Maryland, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, University of Minnesota, University of Nebraska, Northwestern University, Ohio State University, Pennsylvania State University, Purdue University, Rutgers University, and the University of Wisconsin.
