Binghamton University Acceptance Rate?

Hi all! Binghamton University is one of my top choices, but I'm a bit confused about how difficult it is to get accepted. Does anyone know the acceptance rate or anything else about the admissions process that could be valuable?

Binghamton University, which is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, is rather competitive when it comes to admissions. For the 2024-2025 cycle, the acceptance rate is roughly 42 - 45%, making it a fairly selective institution.

To give yourself the best chance at admission, it's important to take note of the factors that Binghamton University considers when reviewing applications. These include your high school grades and the rigor of your course schedule, your SAT or ACT scores (though note that Binghamton has adopted a test-optional policy for those applying for the Fall 2024 semester), your extracurricular involvement, your application essay, and other aspects of your application that demonstrate personal qualities such as leadership, initiative, and resilience.

Given the competitive nature of the admissions process, it's recommended that you showcase your strengths, passions, and potential contributions to the campus community through all aspects of your application. Aim for a high GPA, ideally above the average accepted student of about 3.6, and include high quality, meaningful extracurricular activities that you’re passionate about. If you choose to submit test scores, aim for an SAT score about 1340 or above, or an ACT score of 29 or above, to be competitive.

Remember, whilst these statistical averages may provide a guide, the admissions process is about more than the numbers. Enjoy the process and make the most out of it by genuinely expressing who you are and how you could contribute to Binghamton University. Good luck!
