Liberal Arts Colleges with Strong English Programs?

High school junior here! Kenyon is known for its writing program and I'm all about that life. Anyone know similarly vibed colleges that are strong in English/Literary studies? Need to expand my college list and any suggestions for schools with intimate class settings and a focus on undergrad teaching would be amazing.

Hi there! It's so great to hear about your passion for writing and literary studies. Kenyon is indeed renowned for its strong English program, but there are several other liberal arts colleges that offer a robust education in English and literature. For instance, Oberlin College and Middlebury College are both well-regarded for their English departments with a strong focus on undergraduate teaching and smaller class sizes which means you'll get lots of personal attention.

Another school to consider is Swarthmore College, which offers a very rigorous academic atmosphere, and has a fantastic writing program. Amherst College, known for its open curriculum, allows for a great deal of flexibility in pursuing your interests and building a personalized study plan in English. Williams College also has a distinguished English department with a wide range of courses and a close-knit academic community.

Make sure to check out each college's course catalog and faculty profiles as they can give you a good sense of the academic environment and specialties within the English department. Hope this helps, and good luck with your search!
