What’s the Average Harvard University GPA?

Ever since I was a kid, getting into Harvard has been my dream, but it's super competitive, right? Can anyone let me know what the average GPA of accepted students is? I'm just trying to set my academic goals accordingly.

Indeed, getting into Harvard University is very competitive due to its status as one of the most renowned institutions globally. As of latest data, the average unweighted GPA of admitted students is around 3.9 on a 4.0 scale. However, a 3.9 GPA in and of itself is not a golden ticket to acceptance and there many students with 4.0 GPAs who are not admitted.

Harvard's admissions approach is holistic, meaning the admissions committee looks at the applicant in their entirety, not just their grades. This includes factors like extracurricular activities, essays, recommendation letters, and, reportedly, personality traits successful students share like intellectual curiosity, leadership, and desire to make an impact.

Moreover, given the level of rigor expected at Harvard, it might also be beneficial to pursue challenging courses, such as AP or IB courses, to demonstrate your dedication and ability to handle rigorous coursework.

Nonetheless, aiming for higher GPA will likely increase your chances of admission. Best of luck with your ambitions!
