On the hunt for details about NCAA Division I colleges

Sup guys, I'm a junior playing high-level high school sports and the dream is to go D1. I’ve been looking at NCAA Division I colleges, but I'm not sure how to start narrowing down my options. Has anyone been through this? What should I be thinking about while going through my list?

It's awesome that you're considering playing sports at the Division I level! Choosing the right college is a big decision, so there's definitely a lot to consider.

You should first look at the academic programs that the universities offer. Even if you aspire to play professionally, having a backup plan is really important. You should choose a university with a strong program in the field that you're interested in.

Another important factor, of course, is the quality and reputation of the athletic program itself. Look at the team's performance history, their coaching staff's reputation, their training facilities, and the support they provide for student athletes.

It’s also really important to consider the culture and the community at the university. If it’s financially feasible and safe given your circumstances, try to visit the campus and observe what kind of vibe you get from it. Try to meet some of the athletes and even sit in on a practice if possible. Knowing that you'll fit in and feel comfortable is crucial.

Additionally, consider the location of the campus. Do you prefer a large city, a college town, or a quieter, more rural location? What kind of weather do you enjoy? Where will you be happiest and most productive?

Finally, you want to think about the financial aspect. Scholarships for athletes can vary widely, so make sure you're taking a look at all your options and understanding how much you and your family could potentially be responsible for.

Sometimes, reaching out to the coach of the sport you play at the colleges you're interested in can be helpful as well. They can provide you with more detailed information about their programs and what they're looking for in an athlete.

Best of luck with your search and decision process! It's an exciting time with lots of opportunities ahead.
